L&T’s Vyoma.AI has put down a new 52 MW AI-ready data centre in Chennai. With AI models putting more of a demand on the technology, the infrastructure behind them is now as vital as the tech itself. Whether for training large AI models or cloud-based applications, firms require high-density computing, dependable power and good cooling to run efficiently.

How Vyoma.AI’s New Data Centre Will Support AI Workloads

To meet that need, Larsen & Toubro’s Vyoma.AI is making an inroad with the new green data centre in Chennai. It is built to service hyperscalers, neoclouds and AI companies with the large-scale infrastructure their next-generation workloads call for. For any business wanting to scale its AI operations, this adds to the available pool of infrastructure for such compute-heavy applications.

Direct-to-Chip Liquid Cooling and Sustainable AI Infrastructure

The facility will make use of direct-to-chip liquid cooling to deal with the heat of high-density AI computing. As the hardware is put under more strain by AI workloads, such advanced cooling is necessary for reliability and performance. The centre is also set to incorporate renewable energy and other efficient technologies in the interest of sustainable operations. The overall design is meant to be scalable and reliable for future AI workloads.

“The facility is intended to give the performance, scalability and resilience that advanced workloads need, all while we back a low-carbon digital infrastructure,” said Prashant Chiranjive Jain, Managing Director of Vyoma.AI.

Inside L&T’s Gigawatt-Scale AI Factory Campus in Chennai

This is one piece of L&T’s planned gigawatt-scale AI Factory campus in Chennai. There is already a 30 MW facility up and running with advanced AI compute clusters and 150 MVA of power infrastructure in place for further growth. A 10,000 NVIDIA B300 GPU AI Factory for Together AI is another project in the works, slated for November 2026.

In the first phase the campus can handle 250 MW of capacity, but the long-term plan is to put in place gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure. In so doing, the projects make Chennai a key site in Vyoma.AI’s expansion.

Vyoma.AI’s Data Centre Expansion Plans Across India

Vyoma.AI has its sights on over 250 MW of data centre capacity in India beyond what is in Chennai. The portfolio covers hyperscale AI data centres, sovereign cloud, GPU-as-a-Service and managed AI platforms for the likes of governments and enterprises. The company has not put a figure on the investment or a completion date for the 52 MW build.

Why the Chennai Project Matters for India’s AI Ecosystem

For the AI ecosystem in India, the Chennai project is significant. As the need for AI training, inference and cloud services rises, having access to scalable computing is a must. By bringing together high-density computing, top-tier cooling and renewables, Vyoma.AI is making a statement about building out the infrastructure for both home-grown innovation and global AI workloads.
