With the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship on the cusp of its high-performance GEN4 era, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Jaguar TCS Racing are putting AI at the very centre of their operations.

In a move that takes their Formula E association to another level, the two have agreed to a multi-year extension of their partnership. The deal, made public on 23 September 2026, not only retains TCS as title partner but also confers the status of Official AI Partner. For any business observing how artificial intelligence is being taken from the lab into the kind of pressure-cooker environment found in motorsport, this is an instructive case study in what such a transition entails: the use of simulation, real-time data and AI to inform decisions where even the smallest margin of performance is significant.

Five Years In, the Partnership Enters a New Phase

The new terms are founded on a half-decade of work together. Jaguar TCS Racing has been the dominant force of the GEN3/GEN3 Evo period, with more wins and podiums to its name than any other team, including back-to-back Teams’ World Championships in 2024 and 2026.

Much of that success can be put down to TCS’s Virtual Vehicle Validation Model (V3M). It is a system that gives engineers the means to make data-driven calls and validate software changes in short order, something Formula E’s tight turnaround times demand.

From Racing Technology to AI-Driven Performance

Going forward with GEN4, TCS will be involved in more than just sponsorship; the company will be applying AI and advanced analytics to everything from trackside operations to performance optimisation. As part of the V3M and digital twin development, engineers will be able to explore setup options and derive insights with potential applications for Jaguar’s electric vehicle programme.

“With this renewal we will be using AI and other advanced technologies to open up new avenues for performance,” said Abhinav Kumar, Global CMO at TCS. Chris Thorp, Chairman of JLR Motorsport, put it in terms of a collaboration designed to raise the bar on motorsport performance through data and AI.

Why the Partnership Extends Beyond the Racetrack

There is an educational side to the arrangement as well. Through its Ignite My Future (IMF) initiative, TCS is using the racetrack as a classroom of sorts. Since 2023 the programme has put customised lessons and behind-the-scenes material in front of some 30,000 students in 16 countries, teaching them about the trade-offs in engineering and decision-making under constraints.

A High-Speed Testbed for the Future of AI

Ultimately, the extension is indicative of a wider trend in sport where partnerships are less about brand exposure and more about technology development. For TCS, Formula E is a place to hone digital engineering and AI; for the racing team, it is deeper access to those tools as they head into the regulatory cycle of seasons 13 to 16. In a sense, the racetrack is becoming a live testbed for the sort of enterprise AI and automotive engineering that will define the industry in the years ahead.
